The City has changed to a single stream recycling program and recycling receptacles located inside the round-top building on the corner of 4th Street and Price Avenue. There are containers located outside the building for cardboard. The recycling building is open 7 days a week from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m..
What is Accepted & How to Sort it
The City is accepting Plastics #1 - 7
Please rinse clean and remove lids. Motor oil is not accepted.
Note: Hazardous materials like syringes are not accepted and should be disposed of properly.
Aluminum Cans
Beverage cans only. Aluminum foil or foil containers are not accepted. Are to be separated from other recyclables.
Steel Cans
Rinse clean, no need to remove the labels. No paint or aerosol cans are accepted. Are to be separated from other recyclables.
Glass Bottles / Jars
The glass bottles/jars must be clear, amber (brown) or green. Please rinse clean. No need to separate colors. Glass dishes, window glass and light bulbs are not accepted.
Chipboard Boxes and Telephone Directories
Chipboard can be identified as a single layer cardboard, including egg cartons, cereal boxes, cake mix boxes and other boxes of this type. Telephone directories should be deposited into the chipboard bin. Please remove plastic or waxy liners and fold flat.
Corrugated Cardboard Boxes and Paper Grocery Bags
Cardboard can be identified as double layered cardboard. Paper grocery bags should be placed with cardboard because they are made of the same material. Staples do not need to be removed, please fold flat. Contaminated cardboard such as greasy pizza boxes are not accepted.
Newspapers
The entire newspaper including the inserts are accepted.
Office Pack and Junk Mail
The following are considered acceptable:
- Brochures
- Carbonless Paper
- Computer Printout
- Copy Paper
- Direct Mailings - Please Open and Remove Sample Items or Plastic Cards
- Envelopes - White and Pastel Only, No Dark Colored or Dark Yellow
- Faxes
- File Folders - Manila or Pastel Only With No Adhesives
- Letterhead
- Pastel Colored Paper
- Plastic Windowed Envelopes Without Adhesive
- White Paper
Shredded Office Paper
Please leave in the bag.
Magazines
Any size or type. Catalogs should be placed with magazines.
Books
Both paperback and hardback are accepted.
